John Still quits Dagenham and Redbridge for Luton

Dagenham and Redbridge boss John Still was today appointed as the new manager of Luton Town.

The 62-year-old leaves the club after nine years in charge to replace Paul Buckle, who left Conference side Luton last week.

Dagenham assistant manager Wayne Burnett has been placed in interim control and will take charge of tomorrow’s League Two trip to Bradford.

A Dagenham statement read: “The board were initially shocked and disappointed on learning of John’s decision, but once they realised that it was his wish now to move they quickly decided that to stand in his way would have been wrong given his service to the club.”

Dagenham gave Luton permission to talk to Still over the weekend and have waived the full compensation they were due in order to allow him to leave.

Still, who led Dagenham to promotion to the Football League in 2007, is expected to take charge of Luton’s trip to Braintree tonight.
