'Get the bazookas out!' - Arsenal fan John Lydon lambasts Arsene Wenger for repeating same errors

John Lydon, Public Image Ltd and Sex Pistols frontman, has laid into Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, saying he has “had enough” of the “same errors over and over again”.

The 59-year-old, who has been an Arsenal fan his entire life, was damning of a decline under their current manager that he believes set in the with the departure of Patrick Vieira in 2005.

And Lydon, also known by his former stage name Johnny Rotten, has little faith in the manager’s ability to change his habits.

Speaking to Arsenal Fan TV he said: “I’ve had enough of that. It’s nonsense. You can’t keep repeating the same errors over and over again. You can’t be taking those humiliating, ridiculous defeats from what is allegedly your competition…and consistently do nothing about it.

“For me it comes back to not replacing Vieira. But even before that, how could Vieira want to leave? He sussed something didn’t he? He’s seen something wrong here.

“What kind of training do they get up to? I don’t understand it at all. We constantly have two right-backs just running forward and there ain’t no-one [sic] left there.

“Any long ball team can beat us. That’s all you need to do. Here they come, the boy’s in red. Play ping-pong for ten minutes and we’ll hoof it over the top.

Lydon continued his criticism of Wenger in the video below and questioned whether there had been any real progress despite two FA Cup wins in the past two seasons.

“What on earth’s the FA Cup really?” Lydon asked. “We got two of them. I want that League Cup, how about you? What is it, the Coca-Cola Egg Cup?

With a North London derby tonight following the disappointment of Saturday’s the PiL frontman jokingly threatened dire consequences if Wenger makes it three defeats from three.

“If I see them roll over again like they did the last time against that squalid, imitation team [Chelsea], get the bazookas out. It’s absurd. He’s incapable of listening or learning,” he added.
