Standard Sport assesses the individual performances from Tottenham's 3-1 aggregate defeat to Fiorentina in the Europa League.

Tottenham were dumped out of the Europa League round of 32 after they were clinically beaten 2-0 on the night in Florence and 3-1 on aggregate by the Serie A side.

Maurico Pochettino looked dejected as full-time was blown on this season’s European adventure - an adventure that had looked so promising in the early rounds of the competition.

German striker Mario Gomez took the lead early in the second half when he converted a delicate through ball from Milan Badelj which was poorly defended by both Jan Vertonghen and Federico Fazio.

Vertonghen was also at fault for Fiorentina’s second goal and the one that sealed Tottenham’s fate.

The Belgian defender failed to clear out of the Spurs penalty area and Mohamed Salah, the winger on-loan from Chelsea, steamed in and plucked the ball away from him before smashing past Hugo Lloris.
