England lose on penalties...again

There was a promising start as Jonathan Wilkes coolly stroked in his penalty for England and The Rest of The World's Brian Lara then managed to find the corner despite the best efforts of Jamie Theakston. However the quality then started to drop and with only a few exceptions, namely Damien Lewis, who seemed to be trying to atone for his nutmegging' at the hands of Zinedine Zidane, and Ricky Hatton who both found the top corner perfectly.

Australian Simon Baker spoke of his nerves before the game and they showed as he hit a tame penalty that the 'giant' Theakston punched away. Dominic Cooper's FIFA 10 preparations didn't seem to have helped as his attempt clipped the top of the bar and flew over.

Theakston pulled off the save of the night to deny Gordon Ramsey from the spot with a strong right hand but later undid his heroics with a penalty that only a goalkeeper could take.

The shootout looked like it would never end, with both sides seemingly trying to let the other win, until up stepped Woody Harrelson for the Rest of the World. It wasn't pretty but it did the job, his shot went into the bottom corner just out of reach of the desperate Theakston to beat the plucky English and once again prove that the inability to take penalties is indeed a national disease.
