David Bentley quits Spurs for Russia

David Bentley is hoping to resurrect his career at Russian club FC Rostov after a nightmare four years at Tottenham.

Bentley, who joined Spurs for £15m from Blackburn in 2008, agreed a loan move to the club who are based 130 miles north east of Moscow, before the Russian transfer ­window closed last night. The deal will see him stay there until January. However, there is an option for Rostov to extend it for the rest of the season.

Bentley, who has had loan spells at Birmingham and West Ham, has started just 32 League games since moving to White Hart Lane.

The England international faces a tough task to make an impact as Rostov are 13th out of 16 teams in Russia’s top division, having won only one of their seven matches this season.
