Danny Welbeck dreaming of Euro glory after Danish disaster

Danny Welbeck will never forget the heartache he suffered during the summer with the England Under-21s but hopes the experience will drive him on to help the senior side go all the way at the Euro finals in 2012.

Stuart Pearce's young lions were one of the favourites to win the European Championship Finals in Denmark and Welbeck and his team-mates fancied their chances of doing well but England failed to make it past the group stages.

It is something Welbeck will never forget but he has vowed to put things right if England reach Ukraine and Poland next summer.

Welbeck said: "The Under-21 Championships were disappointing because we had the talent, like Daniel Sturridge, Scott Sinclair, Danny Rose, Henri Lansbury, Jordan Henderson. We were disappointed not to do ourselves justice. It was downheartening.

"We've now got the experience of being away for an international competition, so we know how to prepare and the experience will prove very beneficial for us."

The Manchester United striker has refused to let last summer's ordeal affect his club form and he started the season in blistering form with five goals in seven games.
