Chris Ramsey under pressure as QPR board consider options

Chris Ramsey is facing an uncertain future at Loftus Road with the QPR board beginning to question whether he’s the right man for the job.

Rangers take on Derby tonight having won just two of their last nine matches and have dropped to 12th in the Championship. Ramsey was handed a three-year contract in May after initially taking over as manager when Harry Redknapp left the club in February.

It is the 53-year-old’s first managerial position and he was unable to keep them in the Premier League last term. He is expected to challenge for promotion after key players Charlie Austin, Matt Phillips, Leroy Fer and Rob Green all stayed in the summer.

But Rangers have struggled for form over the past two months and Standard Sport understands the club are having doubts over Ramsey. Former manager Neil Warnock was brought in to the role as a first-team advisor last month to help galvanise the squad.

The 66-year-old was originally due to work just two days a week at first, but it is believed he has been down at the training ground a lot more than anticipated. He has also been giving team-talks before games and at half-time.

Sources suggest there are concerns over Ramsey’s lack of experience. There has already been speculation that former Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood, whom QPR wanted to take over before Ramsey back in February, has been approached to take over.
