Chris Powell picks his moment to insist he’s not a nice guy

The question was inevitable for new Charlton manager and former player Chris Powell at his inaugural press conference: is he too nice to be a manager? It didn't throw a man who obviously learned quickly under Sven Goran Eriksson at Leicester.

Powell replied: "If you have a football career for 24 years you've got to have something that says: I want to play and be the No1'. There are times as a coach you have to be strong and forceful but you should pick and choose your moments."

"It's amazing we can be like that in a game where we have a chance of going to Wembley," Scott fumed. "At half-time I made clear exactly what was at stake, I shouldn't have to but we got the response we wanted.

"Defensively we were not sharp enough, but in the end we showed what we can do."
