'Goodbye Butch' - Chelsea pay tribute to Ray Wilkins at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea paid tribute to their former captain Ray Wilkins with a number of special gestures ahead of their match with West Ham on Sunday, which included a minute's applause.

Ahead of the Blues' game with London rivals West Ham at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea observed a minute's applause for Wilkins, who passed away earlier this week aged 61.

The Chelsea players wore shirts with Wilkins' number 8 on the back for their pre-match warm-ups, and also wore black armbands as the club dedicated their matchday programme to Wilkins, who came up through the ranks at the west London club.

Fans paid tribute to Wilkins by signing a condolences book at Stamford Bridge and laying flowers next to the former midfielder's picture at the ground, which was moved nearer to the Britannia Gate to allow supporters more space to pay their respects.

A video of the highlights of Wilkins' Chelsea career was shown on the screens around Stamford Bridge while fans and players applauded before kick-off in memory of the former England international.
