Charlton vs Bristol Rovers postponed over Covid-19 outbreak

Charlton’s match with Bristol Rovers tonight at The Valley has been suspended due to an outbreak of Covid-19 at their opponents.

Players and first-team staff at Rovers are required to self-isolate in line with EFL and Government guidance following the outbreak and as a result tonight’s game cannot take place.

The two clubs will work to reschedule the fixture, but its suspension is a blow to Charlton supporters.

London is moving into Tier 3 tomorrow, but 2,000 fans would have been able to attend tonight’s game before that happened.

Every ticket purchased or redeemed for the game will remain valid for the rescheduled fixture, but if fans want tickets cancelled and refunded they can contact Charlton.

An EFL statement today said: “Bristol Rovers’ next two Sky Bet League One fixtures have been suspended.

“The club has advised the EFL it is unable to fulfil the fixtures due to an outbreak of Covid-19, with players and first-team staff required to self-isolate in line with EFL and Government guidance.

“As a result, the upcoming fixtures with Charlton Athletic and Oxford United scheduled to take place tonight and on Saturday 19th December respectively, have been suspended and the circumstances surrounding the postponements will now be the subject of an investigation in accordance with EFL Regulations.

“Revised dates for the rearranged fixtures will be confirmed in due course.”
