Brede Hangeland could be at Fulham for life

Brede Hangeland could finish his career at Fulham after signing a new contract at Craven Cottage.

Hangeland last week agreed an extension to his deal that will keep him at the club until at least 2015 and includes an option for a further year.

The 31-year-old defender was linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers in January but is delighted to finally commit his future to Fulham.

“It has taken a long time but we are there now and I hope the club is happy,” said Hangeland. “It may very well be my last club.

“I could not really see myself leaving, so to finally have signed and to know that I am here for a few more years gives me a great feeling.”

Hangeland’s decision to sign a new deal is a huge boost for Fulham, who have lost Mousa Dembele and Clint Dempsey to Tottenham this season.

“I was a bit worried after losing Dempsey and Dembele,” said Hangeland, who has made 234 appearances for Fulham since joining from FC Copenhagen in 2008.

“But the club have shown they do things really well and get the right type of players, the right type of characters and we have brilliant staff. I have liked it from day one, it is a nice club with a family feel to it.”
