Flintoff's England rescue act

England somehow managed to put themselves under a bit of pressure before Andrew Flintoff again steadied the boat and helped secure another seven-wicket victory against Bangladesh today.

Chasing a meagre total of 134 to go two games up in the three-match series, England wobbled to 37 for three before skipper Michael Vaughan (37) and Flintoff (70) restored order.

Richard Johnson profited most with best-yet figures of three for 22 as the home side were restricted to 134 for nine in the second limited overs international.

There was no great cause for English celebration, however.

Bangladesh had lost four wickets before reaching double figures and yet Vaughan's attack could not polish them off. Their ground fielding lacked sharpness and two clear cut catches were put down.

Flintoff, who scored a match-winning 55 last week, was dropped on 26 before responding with some typically big hits against spinner Mohammad Rafique.

Vikram Solanki, who fires far too infrequently for comfort, had fallen lbw for a duck, Marcus Trescothick was bowled via a bottom as he gave Mushfiqur Rahman the change and Paul Collingwood missed a pull. In many ways, the end of this tour cannot come to soon for England. Sri Lanka await next week and Vaughan's men will have to hit the ground running against the former world champions after being able to jog along here against weak opponents.

Jimmy Anderson and Johnson were responsible for England's flying start today. The fast bowlers picked up two cheap wickets apiece as Bangladesh disintegrated to seven for four inside 10 overs. Bangladesh's lowest one-day total of 76 looked a distant figure until a half-century stand between Rajin Saleh and Mushfiqur Rahman at least spared them a fresh indignity.
