Interestingly, Blatter made a point during the short conversation of reminding Blair that the recent Rio Ferdinand drugs affair was an example of "how not to deal with a drugs case."
Blatter was annoyed that Ferdinand was allowed to play for Manchester United while his failure to undergo a test was being investigated.
Blatter also made it clear yesterday that FIFA would continue to pursue their campaign to reduce the number of games in domestic football at the governing body's congress in Paris in May and at their annual meeting in 2005, when a ruling is likely to be made.
The FIFA president believes the Premier League is too big and that England must somehow reduce the number of league and cup games.
However, Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said last month that the top flight would not be reduced in size because of FIFA demands.
