"I'd like to get a position in midfield early on and then use her turn of foot off the home turn," he said.
"It won't be easy, and she has a pretty good filly to beat in Yesterday, but Ouija Board has the form in the book and, provided she adapts to the humidity, she will go in there with a hell of a shout."
Yesterday will be one of five Breeders' Cup runners for Aidan O'Brien and Jamie Spencer, but the feeling around the barns at Lone Star is that Powerscourt could well be the pick of them when he bids to lower the colours of Kitten's Joy in the $2m Turf.
O'Brien has captured the last two runnings of the Turf with High Chaparral and warned punters not to underestimate Powerscourt as he bids for a third success.
"Powerscourt is a tricky horse to get spot-on, but his last piece of work was exceptional," he said. "High Chaparral won the Derby and loads of other big races, but this is a horse I always thought was capable of those things and a mile and a half here should suit him really well."
Meanwhile, Frankie Dettori is looking forward to getting back in the saddle for four rides aboard Wilko, Personal Rush, Diamond Green and Sharp Lisa as an alternative to being trounced by a rival who plays golf off a handicap of 15 but is much more like 10 according to his victim.
"Kieren is different class," moaned the frustrated Italian.
Thousands of patriotic punters will be hoping to say the same when Ouija Board tackles the best fillies in America on Saturday night.
Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare (Coral odds): 6-4 Ouija Board, 9-2 Light Jig, 6 Yesterday, 10 Riskaverse, Wonder Again, 12 bar.
