Holland said: "If you look at our home fixtures, they're all winnable games and the run-in starts here.

"There's a quarter of the season left and important games to be played. If we win our home games we'll be okay. If we can get one of those European spots, it'd be terrific for the club. There are some good players at Charlton who deserve to play at that level." Chris Perry will return from a one-match suspension at centre-back and Jason Euell has recovered from a sore foot to partner Holland in central midfield.

Holland added: "Middlesbrough will be buoyed by their cup success and it'll be a tough game.

"Gareth Southgate's been in terrific form and his organisational skills have helped them keep lots of clean sheets, while they've got some great attacking players in Juninho and [Boudewijn] Zenden."
