SportEurope is worthless cup for MillwallAdrian Warner|Evening Standard14 April 2012Theo Paphitis, the Millwall chairman, admitted today that his club's first European campaign is worth next to nothing.Although teams competing in the Champions League make more than £1million per game, Millwall will be lucky to break even from their UEFA Cup first-round match with Ferencvaros of Hungary.Millwall have managed to secure a television deal for tonight's first leg at The Den, with obscure satellite and cable channel Bravo paying around £10,000.Only if the Championship club make it to the latter stages of the competition, when they could face some of Europe's biggest teams, will Millwall stand to break the £1m barrier.Paphitis said: "This game is not worth anything. We'll be lucky if we break even, in fact."If we get to the group stage you can make a few bob, but no great riches because it depends who you draw."It's not like the Champions League. You could go to the group stages and make squiddly squab. I have managed to do a TV deal with [cable channel] Bravo. But it's no big bananas."MORE ABOUTMillwall FCUEFA Champions LeagueUEFA Europa League
