He added: "You can't expect to come to Lone Star Park to sit last and then blow by them in the straight. It just isn't going to happen."
Meanwhile, Pleasantly Perfect has travelled from California to Texas with an outstanding chance of winning Saturday's $4m Breeders' Cup Classic according to connections.
The six-year-old is hot favourite to follow up his dramatic 2003 success at Santa Anita and is in unusually feisty mood according to trainer Richard Mandella.
"He's usually pretty laid back around the barn, but the excitement of getting off the plane and sensing a different situation got him a little pumped up," he said.
"I had just enough endurance to walk him for half an hour and it broke me out in a sweat. He's the boss and right now I don't think he could be doing any better."
Breeders' Cup Classic betting (William Hill): 7-4 Pleasantly Perfect, 9-2 Ghostzapper, 11-2 Birdstone, Roses In May, 11-1 Funny Cide, 12-1 Perfect Drift, 14 bar.
