Meanwhile, Wasps flanker Joe Worsley was still trying to say "sorry" after his ungracious yellow card departure following a high tackle against Uruguay.
He said: "My gesture of applause to the crowd was a misplaced one and an error of judgment. I would like to unreservedly apologise to the Uruguay squad and fans."
Woodward said: "We are not an arrogant team. He got both barrels from me as soon as I walked into the changing room."
Worsley is to be joined in Brisbane tomorrow by Wasps team-mate Simon Shaw who is flying out to replace Danny Grewcock.
The Bath lock broke his hand against Uruguay.
Meanwhile, Australia are being urged to drop captain and scrumhalf George Gregan.
Nick Farr-Jones, who captained Australia to World Cup glory against England in 1991 and Bob Dwyer, coach of that team, want Chris Whitaker to replace Gregan for the quarter-final clash with Scotland in Brisbane on Saturday.
Farr said: "George, for all his past brilliance, is still struggling."
And Dwyer added: "We cannot win the World Cup with the team we have."
