Dudek: We can silence doubters

Liverpool's unlikely heroes today vowed to play the game of their lives to bring the European Cup back to England for the first time in six years.

With up to half a dozen Liverpool players possibly on their way out of Anfield in the summer, namely Jerzy Dudek, Dietmar Hamann, Vladimir Smicer, Milan Baros and Harry Kewell, those who could play their last game for the club tonight in the final against AC Milan believe they can bow out in glory.

Rafael Benitez's final rallying call to his team before the game at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium will be to remind them that they may never get a second chance of glory like this.

And Dudek, Liverpool's 32-year-old goalkeeper, who heads the list of likely departures, insists: "We have to play the best game of our lives but we all believe we can bring the trophy back.

"Before the competition not one person said Liverpool would reach the final but each round we have proved people wrong. We've showed we can beat any team."

Dudek says all the speculation has not been deflecting the team's focus. He added: "We want to do everything to win the trophy and then afterwards will be the time to see if we are in next year. That decision is for others; it's a big decision but it's not in our hands."
