Mourinho allowed Drogba to remain in France following last night's game.
The 26-year-old will today receive an award for being the best African player in the French league last season and has been given special dispensation to stay in Paris.
Mourinho added: "I like my team to be together from the moment they leave London to the moment they arrive home, but Didier receives an award for being the best player in the French league last season.
"He asked me if the two goals he scored were enough and I said, yes, it was enough for me to change my mind.
"He was the top player in France last season and if you love football - even if you support PSG - you have to appreciate his performance.
"He will be very well received and it will be a great day for him. He deserves it as a player and a person.
"Didier was the man of the match, he scored two goals and respected everybody."
Drogba admitted taunting PSG's fans, saying: "I did wind them up but they wound me up a bit as well, didn't they?
"It was important to come here to Paris to score and do things in style. I lost three matches against PSG last season and it was good to win this time.
"I feel better every day with my new team and my new partners."
