Don aiming for Olympic glory again

Former world champion Tim Don is hoping to make it third time lucky after he was named in Britain's triathlon squad for Beijing today. Londoner Don, who won the world title in 2006, has failed to win a medal in his previous two Olympics.

"I believe that I can aim for the podium in Beijing," said Don, who returned to the event last year after his lifetime Olympic ban for three missed drugs tests was lifted on appeal. He was named in the men's team with Alistair Brownlee and Will Clarke.

In the women's event, Hollie Avil was chosen with Helen Tucker, who was the surprise winner of the world triathlon championships in Vancouver earlier this month. Tucker, from Wales, had been out for much of last year with an Achilles injury and only decided to enter the race in Canada at the last minute.

She said: "I have had a great year so far and I'll be looking to carry my form into Beijing."

Simon Clegg, Team GB 2008 Chef de Mission, said: "I am delighted to welcome these athletes in to Team GB. The squad has a great mix of experience and promising new talent. I look forward to some exciting performances in Beijing."
