Dansili is set to star

Arkadian Hero has never won beyond seven furlongs. Only placed at the highest class as a sprinter, he looks the same cut below at this trip. While maturity may have reaped greater stamina, beware how Lend A Hand looked the winner of last year's Mile until running out of gas and he stayed far better than Arkadian Hero at three.

While lacking a Group One miling win, Dansili hasn't been far off. His half-length second when conceding 3lb to Kalanisi in the Queen Anne and three-quarter-length defeat by Giant's Causeway in the Sussex - when then jockey Olivier Peslier's early challenge played to the iron horse's strengths - makes him the form choice here.

His best form is on fastish ground - two defeats by mudlark Indian Lodge are readily reversed on such firm turf - and trainer Andre Fabre has an excellent record (for a European) in this competition.

Europe can complete the forecast for owner Prince Khalid Abdulla with Distant Music. Winter favourite for the 2,000 Guineas, his yard was under a cloud until late-season but trainer Barry Hills' swift decision to hold fire until he came right results in a fresh, inform horse. His Champion Stakes third reads well, this drop in trip no problem. Best of the US is Ladies Din.

It's painful to admit, but in the Filly & Mare Turf Petrushka could be beaten - she's certainly no betting-man's odds. Her three Group One victories outclass her 13 rivals, but she's had a long old season and the time she takes to stoke up - particularly coming from stall one - is a worry.

This trip is termed 'marathon' Stateside and the home team may lack stamina.

Colstar looks best, although Caffe Latte had a troubled run when fourth last year.

Catella has an each-way chance on her form against colts like Mutafaweq, Fruits Of Love, Samum and Daliapour. Connections believe fast ground suits.

But French filly Goldamix's form can also be glossed positively. Reportedly been transformed now on lasix, her Prix de Diane third behind Arc 2-3, Egyptband and Volvoreta, is already top-class and trainer Carlos Laffon-Parias rarely travels without reason.

The Turf itself is a real headache. The Yanks just don't look good enough, but the Euros all have question marks. Keep stakes small.

Ciro is a new horse on lasix, but would have looked sorely out of place meeting these opponents when trained by O'Brien, while Manndar looks a non-stayer. John's Call tops the rest, but surely we've got something to beat this nine-year-old with.

Montjeu's best his rivals here can only dream about and he's looked imperious to the point of snooty during track outings this week.

But he's vulnerable on fast ground, his trainer holds reservations about this track and this race seems a rather desperate afterthought.

Fantastic Light appeals as a horse at least trained for this, won the Man O'War well on lasix and then didn't get the run of the race next time out at Belmont. Solid, if unspectacular credentials.

Fruits Of Love would have a squeak at the top of his game, but this star-crossed horse has suffered multiple setbacks.

With Mutamam simply outclassed, we're left with Kalanisi. He's improving and in-form, but must prove he stays this new trip and has tactical speed enough to cope with gate 1.

His on-track training has been eventful, but trainer Sir Michael Stoute meticulously responded to those problems and won this race with Pilsudski in 1996.

Kalanisi can complete a one-off year for pilot Johnny Murtagh and owner the Aga Khan.

In the Juvenile, A P Valentine is everyone's sweetheart but the Bob Baffert-trained Flame Thrower and Street Cry, trained by Eoin Harty at Santa Anita for Godolphin, boast the best form and speed figures. The former has beaten the latter twice but, over this longer trip, tables can be turned.

Brits have hit the crossbar before and David Loder's charge brings the strongest form-line yet from our country and is a three-parts brother to electric 1991 winner Arazi to boot. Bet each-way at a big price.

Crimplene's place chances in the Distaff are far from forlorn - her odds are generous for a triple Group One winner with proven ability on dirt against colts. But Riboletta is the American banker to strip headstrong Bountiful Pleasure of her title.

Sprint favourites Kona Gold and Caller One look a class apart, but the latter's inside draw could see him demote the former to bridesmaid for the third year running.

Cindy's Hero may stay on past early-pacers to win the Juvenile Fillies, although the ex-Brian Meehan-trained Freefourracing is interesting.
