Danny Cipriani: I'm delighted to be back in the mix

Danny Cipriani can't wait for his expected return to first-team action for London Wasps in the European Challenge Cup.

The England fly-half played the opening 40 minutes in Wasps' A-league game against Harlequins at Henley last night in his first match back after two months out with a fractured right fibula.

Cipriani's attacking instincts were stifled in a contest played on a sodden, muddy pitch but he did enough to convince his coaches he is ready to start against Bayonne in the Amlin Challenge Cup at Adams Park on Saturday.

Wasps director of rugby Tony Hanks confirmed the 22-year-old would be "in the mix" for the European game and the player himself is chomping at the bit.

"It will take a few games to get back the match sharpness but the touch will still be there and hopefully I can just slip into a winning side that have been playing well," said Cipriani.

"It gets a bit dull spending time in the gym and the weights room and it's nice to be on the field again. It was always the plan to play 40 minutes and now I want to be involved in the 22 for Saturday. I really want to play in the Challenge Cup."
