Dallaglio urges his team-mates to reach new heights

Lawrence Dallaglio expects his London Wasps team to raise their game "to another level" in Sunday's Heineken Cup quarter-final against Gloucester at High Wycombe . . . because they will have to.

"We were very pleased with aspects of our performance in last weekend's league win against Northampton, but we know there is still another level to be reached," said Wasps and England skipper Dallaglio.

"This is the European Cup and Gloucester will be raising their standards too. I think, therefore, that another level will have to be reached by us on Sunday.

"But we are a much more mature team than when we last played at this stage of the competition.

"We have a real belief now against the other top teams."

Director of rugby Warren Gatland says the English champions know, as a club, that they have "let themselves down in the past", but added: "Having home advantage is a big plus in what will be an extremely tough game."

Gloucester have talented backs like Henry Paul, Duncan McRae, Marcel Garvey and James Simpson-Daniel behind a traditionally heavyweight pack, but Shaun Edwards, the Wasps coach, said: "We're aware of their threat, but we're also not planning to sit back and applaud them!"

Paul Burke, George Harder and Karl Rudski are all expected to return from injury when Harlequins take on Irish province Connacht in Sunday's Parker Pen Cup semi-final first leg tie at The Stoop.
