Dallaglio is fired-up for a knockout

The former England captain added: "Both teams realise how important this result is. For us, we can still decide our own destiny. If we lose, we are relying on other results to go our way. We have to approach it as a knockout game."

Having retired from international rugby, the high-profile game provides another chance for the Wasps No8 to stake his claim for a place on the back row on the Lions tour to New Zealand next summer.

While Leicester's World Cupwinning captain Martin Johnson, last week ruled out a return for the Lions, Dallaglio made it clear this week that he still wants to be part of the tour.

He said: "If I am fit and playing well, I am available. For me, the important thing is to continue to play well and carry that form into the New Year and beyond." Wasps started last week's game poorly and defended badly. They had particular problems dealing with Leicester's powerful front five. But their second-half comeback, when they put intense pressure on the Tigers, has given Dallaglio hope.

He said: "Clearly the scrummage was an area of concern for us throughout the game. Ultimately it actually cost us the game." SCOTTISH rugby chiefs are looking seriously at the idea of setting up a new professional team in London.

Discussions involving Scottish Rugby Union officials have taken place about creating a team within the next three years to play in the Celtic League and be outside the jurisdiction of the Rugby Football Union.

However, Twickenham chiefs would almost certainly have to give their approval to any new club on their territory.
