Cup hopes are looking bad for All The Good

Godolphin's All The Good is a doubt for Tuesday's Melbourne Cup at Flemington amid fears that he may have strained a fetlock.

Saeed Bin Suroor's five-year-old stayer is "sore" in his right foreleg and has undergone X-rays to ascertain the extent of the damage.

"He was supposed to work today but he's not right, so we will be taking no risks," Bin Suroor said.

"There is no swelling and no heat in his leg but I want to see him sound and healthy before we make a decision.

"On Saturday he has to be declared, so we will see tomorrow what the results of the tests tell us.

"He cantered yesterday and was in good form, but I want to keep my options open until I see something better."

If Godolphin's worst fears are realised, it will be the same injury that only 24 hours earlier forced Australia's best Melbourne Cup chance Efficient from the race. All The Good's Cup odds had earlier this month plummeted after he powered to an impressive victory in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup.

He had previously won the re-arranged Ebor the totesport Newburgh at Newbury in August.

Jane Chapple-Hyam conversely issued an upbeat bulletin about fellow Cup contender Yellowstone, third behind All The Good at Newbury.
