India decision set to leave Graeme Swann in a spin

India have vetoed the use of the Decision Review System for this summer's Test series against England.

The move is a considerable blow to spinner Graeme Swann, who admitted during this winter's successful Ashes series that he has benefited from the technology.

The No2-ranked bowler in the world has taken 41 of his 138 wickets by lbw, the second-highest proportion in Test history.

So, to help combat Swann, India's senior players have pushed their officials into sending a request to the England and Wales Cricket Board for DRS not to be used.

Under International Cricket Council regulations both teams have to consent to its use for each series.

Before Hawk-Eye technology was developed proving many more of their deliveries would go on to hit the stumps than was previously thought, spinners were successful in only one in 20 of their lbw appeals.
