From the moment he came on on the opening evening, Robinson threatened. Picked up the key wicket of Rohit on the second morning on his way to a maiden Test five-fer. A real find for England who is very hard to leave out.
Stuart Broad - 5
Was not at his best in the first innings, but did provide the early breakthrough on the fourth evening. It is not inconceivable that he sits out at Lord’s.
James Anderson - 8
A beautiful first innings performance, finding two fine deliveries to dismiss Pujara and Kohli. Every time he had the ball in his hands, the contest felt alive.
INDIA
Rohit Sharma - 7
A big presence at the top of the order for India. Staunch in defence, with all the shots. Brain fade in the first innings, solid on the fourth innings, just when his team needed him.
KL Rahul - 8
Only played because Gill and Agarwal are injured, but had a fantastic Test and is inked in for the summer now. So patient, and punished the poor ball.

Cheteshwar Pujara - 5
Felt a matter of time before he was dismissed in the first innings, but did his job in the second.
Virat Kohli - 4
A golden duck, but hard to blame him for getting out to that ball. Used a couple of good reviews on day one, but there were some very bad ones, too.
Ajinkya Rahane - 4
Horribly frenetic innings, which ended in a run out. Also dropped – an admittedly tough – chance off Curran. India’s middle order has bags of experience, but is a little dysfunctional at the moment.
Rishabh Pant - 7
A hugely underestimated wicketkeeper, and an absolute firecracker with the bat. Is going to really hurt England at some stage this series.
Ravi Jadeja - 7
Vital runs in the first innings, although was not the threat with the ball that India might have hoped. Stalked about in the field, always played where the ball is likeliest to go. Fine catch of Bairstow.
Shardul Thakur - 6
A very handy operator who is easy to underestimate, but is well suited to English conditions. Key wicket of Root in the first innings and Buttler in the second.
Mohammed Shami - 7
Just four wickets in the match, but bowled better than that. Bustling, busy, accurate, good with the new ball and old. Indispensable.
Jasprit Bumrah - 9
A sensational return to form for one of the most watchable bowlers in the world. An absolute menace from over the wicket – England need to find answers, fast.
Mohammed Siraj - 7
Siraj had a funny old game. Was a constant threat and bowled some stunning deliveries, but somehow only ended up with three wickets. Fielded poorly and never shirked a fight – with any of England’s batters. Extra point for *that* boundary down the ground.
