Leicestershire used nine bowlers in a valiant but vain attempt to keep the home side in check. As it was, when today's weather allowed, the visitors were due to resume on 14 for two, needing a further 346 runs to avoid an innings defeat.
Salisbury's hundred, which sent Surrey soaring to 560 for eight declared, followed Mark Ramprakash's 152 as Leicestershire were brought to their knees.
Salisbury's 101 included nine fours.
