An unlucky defeat in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot was soon forgotten after victory in the Gordon Stakes at Glorious Goodwood was followed by St Leger success at Doncaster, before taking the Breeders' Cup Turf at Santa Anita at the expense of subsequent Hong Kong Cup winner Eagle Mountain.
Peter Reynolds, general manager of owners Ballymacoll Stud, said: "It was just an ordinary handicap on Epsom Derby day, but he did it in an amazing way coming from last to be first.
"Conduit has come from being a bridesmaid to being a king."
