Yankee Storm, touched off in a seven-furlong handicap at Lingfield on Saturday, looks likely to be one of Collingridge's final runners. He was also his last winner, when taking a handicap at Wolverhampton in July.
"Finishing third at Lingfield on Saturday underlined the issues. The prize money didn't cover the costs of travelling," he added.
"One or two owners have expressed that I be put in shackles so they can bring me out of retirement in the future but at the moment I'm totally disillusioned."
Andrew Reid, who owns London's only racing stable at Mill Hill, was also on the brink of quitting. But the trainer revealed: "I intend to renew my licence, albeit with some reticence."
Meanwhile, Stan James pushed Jessies Dream out to 16-1 from 11s for the RSA Chase after the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding suffered a shock defeat in the three-runner Grade 2 Killiney Novice Chase at Leopardstown yesterday.
