Clive Brittain can't wait to unleash Misheer at Newbury

Clive Brittain is hoping Misheer will provide some clarity to a muddled 1,000 Guineas picture when his filly makes her seasonal debut at Newbury on Saturday.

With French star and ante-post favourite Special Duty disappointing in her trial at Maisons-Laffitte last week, the Newmarket trainer feels that the mile fillies' Classic on 2 May is there for the taking.

Misheer was beaten less than three lengths by Special Duty on her final start in last season's Group One Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket.

And according to trainer Brittain, the Saeed Manana-owned daughter of Oasis Dream is primed for a big run.

"She appears to have wintered well and she has been working very well," said Brittain, who won the 1,000 Guineas with Pebbles in 1984 and Sayyedati in 1993.

A winner of three of her six starts to date, Misheer did all her racing as a two-year-old over five and six furlongs.Partnered by Neil Callan, she will tackle seven furlongs for the first time in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury.

Brittain said: "The extra furlong will be no problem to her. She will be fit enough to do herself justice and she should be able to find a couple of lengths' improvement. We're looking forward to taking on Special Duty again in the Guineas.

"The form can turn upside down from two to three but Misheer has learned to relax in her work. She quickens up and she is a very similar filly to Seyyedati."

Misheer, who renews a rivalry with the Brian Meehan-trained Lady Of The Desert, a head behind her in the Cheveley Park, is 25-1 with Victor Chandler but 16-1 with Ladbrokes for the Guineas.

Music Show is 7-1 joint second-favourite for the Classic following her victory in the Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket yesterday.
