Classy Triggerman's ready to hit the target for Hobbs

Philip Hobbs has enjoyed a fine Cheltenham Festival and Triggerman can round off the week in style for the trainer with victory at Uttoxeter.

The Midlands Grand National is usually run in desperate conditions but the forecast looks more favourable tomorrow, a factor which would help Triggerman's chances.

There is little doubt that when the nine-year-old gets round, he is a classy performer but his jumping has proved a slight problem in the past.

He made a mistake or two when finishing third behind Blazing Bailey at Ffos Las last month but that was a definite improvement after falling on his previous two efforts.

Hobbs had considered him for the National Hunt Chase at the Festival but the hurly-burly there would have put his jumping under more pressure.

A likely slower pace here would help him settle early on and, off a featherweight 10st under Tom O'Brien, he should hold a definite chance in the extended 4m 1f event.
