While Carvalho is eyeing a future away from Chelsea, Michael Essien has pledged his commitment to the club.
The 25-year-old midfielder said he was relishing the chance to make amends for finishing the season with no silverware, despite chasing glory on four fronts.
He added: "I will go back to Chelsea for the next season and expect to have a great season.
"We will be able to bounce back a better side. The season generally was disappointing but that is football. When you put these things behind you, you become stronger."
The club have yet to appoint Avram Grant's successor and are expected to receive another blow today when AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti turns them down.
