Originally, it was thought that he might miss the Turkey game but he now has a chance of being fit to play for Real Madrid against Espanyol on Sunday.
His former United team-mate Paul Scholes, who has missed England's last two matches, is expected to be back when Eriksson unveils his squad on Sunday night.
The England coach watched Scholes, who has recovered from a hernia operation, play in Stuttgart in the Champions League on Wednesday. "He's a very important player and he looks as though he will be fit for the Turkey game," said Eriksson.
Providing Scholes suffers no reaction he's certain to return in midfield to partner Steven Gerrard. This is likely to relegate Chelsea's Frank Lampard to the substitute's bench.
The England squad begin preparations for the match at Arsenal's London Colney training ground on Tuesday. They fly to Istanbul on Thursday.
England will be defending an unbeaten record when they face the Turks. In nine games, England have won eight and drawn one and have yet to concede a goal.
