Butler to celebrate in style

The rest of a good field were well strung out, and it's hard to escape the conclusion that tomorrow's rivals have their work cut out if Nayyir is at his best again.

Chic is clearly the big danger after her impressive success in Newbury's Hungerford Stakes two weeks ago, but her lack of experience in the mud is a worry and connections might think twice about running her if the ground gets any softer overnight.

The front-running Passing Glance ran a blinder when collared close home in this race last year but, along with Court Masterpiece and Brunel, he is another whose ability to produce his best on deep ground is debatable. Hurricane Alan does handle soft ground and is worth considering as a likely longshot, but the more you look at this race the harder it is to get away from Nayyir.

A telling turn of foot is his biggest weapon and, with the Butler horses in fine form, he looks all set to notch the biggest success of his career.

Full marks to Beverley for putting on a card offering well over £100,000 in prize money tomorrow and Henry Cecil's Invasian is worth keeping an eye on in the totesport Handicap.

This is another race in which plenty of horses have something to prove as regards the ground.

Inchloss is one exception and should go well on his first attempt at this longer trip, while Mutafanen ran well in a hot Haydock handicap last time, but Invasian shaped like an improving type when beating a couple of last-time-out winners at Folkestone recently and still looks fairly treated off a mark of 95.
