Bullet Train ready to arrive on time for Henry Cecil

Henry Cecil may still be smarting over Jacqueline Quest's disqualification in the 1000 Guineas but the trainer can dream of Classic success again.

Cecil's BULLET TRAIN (3.10pm) is well placed to shake up a stagnant Investec Derby market by landing the Group Three totesport.com Derby Trial at Lingfield tomorrow, one of eight races covered by Channel 4.

The son of Sadler's Wells is held in high regard by his Newmarket trainer and was an unlucky second to smart filly Myplacelater at Newbury on his seasonal debut.

His pedigree suggests the extended 1m 3f trip could stretch him but with such a small field, there is unlikely to be a strong pace and he appears to have the necessary turn of foot if it turns into a tactical battle.

Newmarket maiden winner Desert Myth represents owner Saeed Suhail and trainer Sir Michael Stoute, who teamed up to win the 2003 Derby with the lightly-raced Kris Kin.

However, Bruce Raymond, racing manager to Suhail, sounded a warning when he admitted: "His Newmarket win leaves him a long way off being a Derby horse at this stage."
