"He is great at motivating the players before games as well. It is down to his whole personality, really, and the way he talks to you individually.
"When Glenn first came to Tottenham he was very good and seemed okay with me. Things were fine. But I don't think he ever thought I fully recovered from my injuries. I didn't get a look in, even though I personally thought I was fit enough to play.
"Glenn spends more time on the tactical side of things. There were quite a few team meetings about how we were going to play against certain opposition and he would change the tactics many times during a game.
"He is very single-minded, which sometimes you have to be as a manager. But he hasn't got the same sense of humour as Steve Bruce has. The atmosphere at Birmingham is brilliant.
"The manager organises golf days for us and the players and our wives go out together. All this makes for a very good team spirit. The manager also keeps the players who are not involved as happy as those in the team and that is an achievement.
"Glenn never organised any golf days or things like that but he likes to do things in his own way. For me, it is nice to be playing for a manager who believes in me and who has given me confidence.
"At Spurs I lost a lot of confidence because I hadn't played enough. I felt I had a point to prove to a few people and I am looking forward to this game. I am happier now than I was before."
Now living in Kings Norton, Clemence has settled into life away from London. He knows Spurs will be a tough opener for them but, after the anxiety of City's struggle to stay up last season, there is a renewed enthusiasm running throughout the club.
Clemence said: "We achieved our task by staying in the Premiership and also we did it quite comfortably in the end. That was a relief for us. The last day was like a real party atmosphere and this has been a tremendous move for me. Because of what we went through last season, everyone knows what to expect now and we know it will be even tougher to achieve it again.
"People will say we are going to be down around the bottom again but if we can perform like we did in the last few games, then we should not have a problem. I only missed one game last season and that was because the manager thought I was not fit enough.
"But he knows what I can do and I know that he was pleased with what I did for him. It just feels so nice to be wanted again."
