Blazevic wants Spurs job

One top manager has finally admitted applying for the vacant Tottenham job - former Croatia coach Miroslav Blazevic.

Speculation over the new boss at White Hart Lane continues, with both Martin O'Neill and Graeme Souness said to be cooling over their interest, making Alan Curbishley the favourite.

None, though, has formally ruled himself out of the running. But 67-year-old Blazevic, who led Croatia to third place at the 1998 World Cup, has also applied for the Reading job and will bring former West Ham and Everton defender Slaven Bilic with him if he is successful.

Blazevic said: "I am going to Tottenham with Slaven Bilic or I will challenge Hajduk Split in the championship race with Varteks. I have a French coaching pedigree, not just Croatian. And as foreign coaches become more and more wanted in England, I had information from my agent that I am in the race to be head coach at Tottenham.

"I told my agent immediately that I will take Slaven with me, as he enjoys a great reputation on the island."

Considered to have high motivational qualities, Blazevic also has another side to his game. During his time as Croatian coach he insisted on receiving faxes from his astrologer before every game.
