How to place a Royal Ascot Placepot
The Placepot is a low-stake, high-potential pool bet that asks punters to pick a horse to place in each of the first six races of the meeting. - Select the Royal Ascot Placepot for the day you want to bet on.
- In each of the first six races, pick at least one horse to place. Bettors can have more than one selection in each race. Place terms will vary by field size: Top 2 in races with 5-7 runners, top 3 in races with 8+ runners, and top 4 in handicaps with 16+ runners.
- Set the stake per line - a minimum of 1p and total minimum bet 50p. The total cost is the stake per line multiplied by the total number of lines, which is the product of selections across the six legs.

Tote’s non-runner rule means that if a selected horse is withdrawn, the bet automatically rolls onto the starting-price favourite for that race, so the leg can still survive.
The bookies also have an established dead-heat rule, which means a horse that finishes in a dead heat for the last placed position is treated as having placed, and the leg survives - although the dividend may be adjusted.
Tote retains 27 per cent of the pool, with the remaining 73 per cent split between the winning tickets.
The payout per £1 stake depends on the pool size and the number of winners for the total dividends.
