Beckhams throw World Cup party

Just how posh can you get ... Victoria and David Beckham are throwing open the gates of "Beckingham Palace" to mark the launch of the World Cup with a party the OK! set would die for.

And as the finals are being staged in the Far East, the bash will have a Japanese theme complete with sushi and saki.

Television bosses and glossy magazines are paying six-figure sums to cover the party, which will be attended by more than 300 celebrity guests including Sir Elton, Ronan Keating, the Spice Girls and the entire England squad.

Champagne will be served as guests arrive in the grounds of the Beckhams' Hertfordshire mansion on 12 May, while the footballing "tenor of the people", Russell Watson, performs arias in the background.

As part of the Land of the Rising Sun theme, Japanese waiting staff will serve delicacies to the guests, before singer Beverly Knight takes to the stage to perform.

While it is not yet clear if the Beckhams will dust down the golden thrones in which they sat at their infamous wedding reception, it is known that the proceeds from media coverage will go to the children's charity the NSPCC.
