Beckham signs for Spurs

They have already missed out on the talents of father David.

But fans of Tottenham Hotspur can live in hope that another Beckham may yet grace the turf of their White Hart Lane ground.

The star's four-year- old son Brooklyn is already in training with the club, having been enrolled on its Football in the Community sessions for local youngsters.

Normally children join in with the schemes, run by most Premiership and Nationwide League sides, around the age of six. But Brooklyn, who won't be five until March, is already good enough to compete with higher age groups.

He has twice taken part in the after- school sessions at the club's indoor centre in North London in the past fortnight.

One onlooker said: 'You can already see that Brooklyn is going to develop into a good player. The kids were only practising elementary football skills but Brooklyn shows lots of promise.'

Leytonstone-born David, who himself trained as a schoolboy at Spurs before joining Manchester United, drove Brooklyn from the family home in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, to his first session, run by former Spurs and Colchester player Steve Grenfell.

With Beckham Senior back in Spain playing for Real Madrid, Brooklyn's mother Victoria accompanied him on his second visit.
