Bath coach Jon Callard could not conceal his admiration for Jones. 'I thought he was immaculate,' he said. 'If he continues like this, Llanelli have a chance of winning the Cup.'
Callard was less complimentary about his own No.10, Mike Catt, who took many a wrong option, persisting with the policy of an aerial attack on full back Garan Evans.
'We were all surprised, really,' said Callard, having been told that Llanelli coach Gareth Jenkins had expressed his puzzlement at the Bath tactics.
Callard added: 'Mike is general on the pitch and calls the shots. But we kicked away what little possession we gained.'
Catt and centre Mike Tindall, who limped off in the second half, suffered knee injuries, which will be of concern to England. Tindall, in particular, looked unlikely to be fit in time for Saturday's Calcutta Cup clash with Scotland.
The rag doll which has been the prize symbol of Bath v Llanelli matches for 81 years looked limp and bedraggled as it hung from the posts. A bit like Bath, really.
Neither side could blame the pitch, which was in remarkably good condition considering that just 24 hours earlier puddles, into which Dr Foster would not have dared venture, had caused a postponement.
Llanelli were quickly in full flow, as irresistible as the gushing River Avon, muddy and in menacing spate, that cuts through the city of Bath.
This was always going to be a match decided by pressure and the boot, even if Gavin Thomas managed a consolation try for Bath. The first half was one of total Llanelli control, five successful penalty kicks punctuating their total dominance both in territory and possession.
On the rare occasions that Bath found their way deep into the Llanelli 22 they either took wrong options or made crass errors.
A throw to the tail of the line-out was folly in the conditions; the knock-on by No.8 Nathan Thomas was carelessness bordering on irresponsibility.
Llanelli, in contrast, took correct decisions and avoided mistakes even as Bath rallied for a brief period in the second half. It proved a potent mixture.
