Barnett is captain marvel for Broncos

London Broncos warmed up for the clash with Wigan at The Valley next Sunday by producing their third win in a row.

The London rugby league team, who lost the opening three games of their Super League season against Leeds, Halifax and St Helens, have roared back in the last three with victory over Huddersfield, Salford and, saving the best till last, 38-10 at Wakefield yesterday.

New Zealand skipper Richie Barnett, who captained Broncos for the first time, and Greg Fleming led the way with two tries apiece as Broncos built on a 20-4 interval lead.

Justin Dooley and Brett Warton scored London's other two tries and Warton also kicked a goal to go with the six landed by Tony Martin.

Coach Tony Rea was full of praise for Barnett, saying: "He had a good game and really showed his class. He is captain of New Zealand and I'm really pleased that he got a result in his first game as London captain.

"I was really proud of the team out there, they played very well. They are a very positive group of guys. It isn't just the results that have been impressive of late but the way we have approached the games has been good too."
