Doumen admitted that McCoy is still learning about his new partner after winning two tactical contests at Newbury and Windsor yet refuted any suggestion of disagreement about the best way to ride him.
"There have been no quarrels and we discuss strategy together," he added. "Every time Tony rides him he learns more about him, but he is champion jockey and he has to discover it by himself."
Doumen also addressed the question of whether chasing will enter the equation as he watched Baracouda go through his paces in a sextet which was headed by his former King George hero First Gold and also included the SunAlliance Chase contender L'Ami and Grand National hope Kelami.
"I have discussed it with his owner JP McManus, but we always end up asking who is going to beat him over hurdles," he added.
Meanwhile, those looking for Cheltenham's favourite Frenchman to wax lyrical about Baracouda's presence and character were left sorely disappointed.
"He's a very plain horse," he added. "His neck is going the wrong way, his hips are pointing, he's got a white eye and all in all he hasn't got much personality, but he accelerates brutally and he's wonderful in my bank account."
