Austin Healey for No.10

With the first Test barely a fortnight away, the team is taking shape and Healey, not known as a shrinking violet, is in with a shout.

Henry describes him as the 'surprise packet', saying: 'Healey is an exciting player, an exciting option to have on the bench for a number of positions. He's a winner and keen to get into the Test XV.'

Healey, who set up Leicester's European Cup triumph last month from one of his rare excursions in his favourite fly half position, confesses to not having the foggiest idea where he might appear next.

He said: 'I'm happy waking up each morning not knowing where I am going to be playing. It keeps me that little bit more motivated and that little bit fresher in my outlook.

'It's become a bit of a joke that whenever someone gets tired or injured, I get the opportunity to step in. I didn't know where I was going to play on Tuesday night until the very last second. I'm not really fussed as long as I get a game.'

The identity of the Lions right wing - ironically Healey's position for England - is another intriguing issue.

Should Dafydd James prove against Queensland that he has enough nous to compensate for the lack of a turbocharger, then the job will be his, in which case the Lions can keep the explosive Jason Robinson in reserve.

If James falls short, Henry will be left to rue the choice of four left- sided wingers, of whom Dan Luger is the best by far. In that event they will be tempted to revert to Plan B, Iain Balshaw on the right wing instead of full back, with Matt Perry the last line of defence.

Only the Lions could rattle up 199 points during their two opening matches without using the really heavy artillery in the shape of captain Martin Johnson. He returns on Saturday, hungry as ever to resume where he left off with Leicester in Paris four weeks ago.

Lawrence Dallaglio is hoping to face Australia A and their 13 Wallabies on Tuesday, his first match since a knee injury put his tour in jeopardy six weeks ago.
