Attack is best form of defence for Lions

If the Lions are going to win this deciding Test match tomorrow, they need to try to play rather than just attempt to restrict Australia from playing.

They can't get defensive and they must play like they did in the first half of the First Test. If they are just going to hold on, be negative and allow Australia to strut their stuff, then the game is over before it has started. I am sure this won't be the case but the confidence of Graham Henry's side has taken a knock.

Firstly, they should have won the series by half-time in Melbourne such was their dominance in that Second Test. You can't help but think that was an opportunity that slipped away.

Secondly, the injuries are mounting and there must be a lot of bodies that are aching after an arduous tour and a long domestic season. Thirdly, the management and players were all saying last week they wanted to win in Melbourne so they didn't have to go to Sydney for the decider. This, to me, is an irrelevant and negative way to talk about a game. They now have to get their heads around the fact they are here for the decider and they had better get over the fact they didn't want to do that.

The inclusion of Austin Healey sheds some light as to the attitude of the Lions and how they are going to play. Healey and Jason Robinson are two players who can win games on their own if given the opportunity. I was surprised Robinson didn't see more of the ball in the Second Test. In the opening Test, his first two touches resulted in tries.

The Lions' pack will win ball and it is essential they get it to the attacking men out wide, not necessarily from first phase, but they must be involved at every opportunity.
