There was silence emanating from Highbury today with the club refusing to make any comment on Van Persie's situation.
At the weekend van Persie stressed his desire to stay at Arsenal long-term and to learn from fellow Dutchman Dennis Bergkamp.
"I can see myself staying at Arsenal for many years," he said. "My contract has three years to run and, of course, we will have to see about it.
"I can learn a lot from Dennis and it is great he has signed a new contract."
Van Persie, born in Rotterdam, was in the Dutch national squad for World Cup qualifiers against Romania and Finland this month.
He joined Arsenal last year from Feyenoord and began to force his way into the first team towards the end of last season, scoring twice in the FA Cup semi-final win over Blackburn.
Meanwhile, Thierry Henry has again pledged his future to Arsenal as talk of a move to Spain resurfaced once more.
The French striker has always been of interest to Barcelona but Real Madrid have also been linked with his services.
England striker Michael Owen has been frequently mentioned as the bait to lure Arsenal into a sale - as he was when Real were reportedly keen on Manchester United wide man Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, the North London outfit are determined to hang on to their most influential player and Henry has no desire to move out of London.
He is desperate to win the UEFA Champions League with Arsenal and believes Arsene Wenger's squad is capable of achieving it.
Henry said: "The Champions League has never been won here at Arsenal, and that is the only thing missing on my CV.
"But there is plenty of time yet. For me, there is no such thing as a mental thing. It's like when people ask me about not scoring and say 'has it gone into your head?
"People say England cannot win in penalty shoot-outs but I don't think that is a mental thing.
"It is a pressure, though, and it is about being good enough."
