Arsenal and Smith in the dock again

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed that he had been prepared to leave out man-of-the-match Henry but Jeremie Aliadiere, due for a run-out, fell sick and did not make the trip to Yorkshire.

It was Arsenal's 13th successive FA Cup win since losing the 2001 Final to Liverpool, and the third time in a row that they have won 4-1 at Elland Road.

Wenger refused to rule out an historic third FA Cup hat- trick, which would be the first for more than 100 years since Blackburn Rovers and Wanderers achieved the feat.

He said: 'We just love to win games in every competition, apart from the Carling Cup. It's very difficult to choose priorities.' Martin Keown, who had his usual physical battle against Viduka, said: 'I always enjoy that side of the game but the scoreline flattered us a bit. Henry added: 'Four-one was a bit harsh, they battled well.'

Jens Lehmann presented Viduka with his eighth-minute opener by taking too long over a clearance and allowing the Australian to charge it down into the net.

But Wenger was in forgiving mood, saying: 'Jens made a mistake but credit to Viduka, who reacted quickly and cleverly to make it very difficult for Jens. It's the kind of mistake you have to accept if you want your goalkeeper to distribute.'

Leeds manager Eddie Gray said: 'We're not the only team who have found Arsenal difficult in the FA Cup but I hope we can take the good points from this game. The players know the priority for this club is the Premiership.'

Leeds defender Michael Duberry has revealed that he and Jonathan Woodgate are close friends again after the bitter rift which followed his former team-mate's conviction for affray in 2001.

Woodgate initially refused to speak to Duberry - even when playing alongside him in the Leeds defence - after the latter gave evidence at his trial.

But although Woodgate has since joined Newcastle, he has now forgiven Duberry.

'Time sorted things out,' Duberry told The Sunday Times. 'We're good friends again, we speak regularly, we have a laugh and a joke, there is no old grievance.

'This is not me saying this for diplomatic reasons, this is how it is. We phone each other and hammer each other like we used to.

'Woody and I had been really close, best mates. It put a big strain on the relationship. After the second trial we stopped speaking and we just weren't getting on.'
