Arda Turan's gentle touch can bring down Chelsea's rock-solid wall for Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid look set to unleash Arda Turan on Chelsea’s defence tonight in the hope he will pick a way through a rear-guard that comfortably dealt with Diego Costa in the first leg.

Costa has bullied La Liga defences all season but got no joy out of the John Terry-Gary Cahill partnership in Madrid and Atletico coach Diego Simeone believes it will take something a little more subtle to score the solitary goal Atletico need to make it to their first final in 40 years.

“Simeone and Mourinho are two of the best coaches in the world and there will be a tactical battle tonight,” said the Turkey international.

The Argentine coach is confident his supremely organized defence can close out Chelsea but has been scratching his head since last Tuesday as to how to find a way past their defence.

A pelvic injury means Turan (right) has not played regularly for more than a month — he did come on as a substitute in the first leg — but Simeone is ready to pitch him in at the expense of David Villa despite the latter’s big-game pedigree.

Turan will take up a position wide right with a licence to roam in-field and Raul Garcia will move from the right-hand side where he played in the first leg to play just behind Costa in attack.
